James Blake :: Limit To Your Love

JAMES BLAKE - LIMIT TO YOUR LOVE from martin de thurah on Vimeo.

No one would call me the most enthusiastic fan of dubstep, but James Blake continues to produce music that challenges that idea. I hope you enjoy this track.

Cut Copy :: Take Me Over (Thee Loving Hands Remix)

Here's a sick remix of Cut/Copy. Their new album, Zonoscope, should be released in Febuary. Check out th track list and the remix Here, on GvB.

The Bitters - Travelin' Girl from Mexican Summer on Vimeo.

Teen Inc :: Friend of the Night

Ever have that feeling that the night is your best friend? I do. I see it nightly and many times its the last of my friends to leave. On long loney night walks, like back from BART, this is a great song to keep you company.

Toro Y Moi :: Still Sound

Another crusher from Toro y Moi. In my opinion, this texas artist's stuff just keeps getting better and better. And it is really refreshing to see young "hype" artists striving for consistency.

Still Corners :: Wish

Wish from Still Corners on Vimeo.

Recently, life has felt like an endless summer. I normally get lonely as all of my friends fly back to the east coast in August. This year, however, there are more people around and it's just fun. This song has the moodiness of the early winter nights, but still reminds me of those fun filled hazy summer days. Enjoy.

Beck + Tobacco = Fresh Hex

Tobacco consists of members of super black moth rainbow. They released their album maniac meat last spring and released this single Fresh Hex which features vocals from Beck. Its pretty awesome and the whole album is pretty sweet too, it has a lot of twisted synthesizers and overall is just really fun to listen to. Also check out the 2nd link which is another cool track "Heavy makeup" off of Maniac Meat

Star Slinger :: Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins Rework)

Destroyer :: Chinatown

Seeing as San Francisco has the oldest and largest established China town it seems fitting that this song would stand out for me. It sounds amazing and reminds me of ending a cold night of drinking in chinatown getting some good cheap grub. It has a great feel to it. I hope you enjoy it.

Kayne West and Jay-Z ft Elly Jackson :: That's My Bitch

Kanye and Jay Z are expected to release a collaboration in the next year or so. Here is a listen of their first single to be released. It features Elly Jackson, who you may know from La roux. This track goes and is insanely catchy and invigorating. With Jay-Z and Yeezy trading verses and Elly on the hook I c

Kanye West :: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Here's the epic video from Kanye's newest album. I love this album and have listened to over 15 times in 4 days. I lost track after that. This video is pretty sick, but really long. It's really an amalgamation of all the tracks and set to one video. If you have half an hour, I'd recommend watching. The chick in it is hella fine too.

Kisses :: Weekend In Brooklyn

I fell in love with this track, and everything I've heard from the band since, immediately. I don't have much info on the band other than that they are from the South Land. I hope you enjoy the track.

Wagner

Wagner - Recession Song by Mr. TMS

   Wagner is another french fellow who enjoys making music with synthesizers. He makes electronic pop tunes, and so far only has two official original tracks of his own (one appeared above) But has quite a few remixes and is actively playing shows. Next time your in France be sure to show him some support and go to a show of his!

Avey Tare- Lucky one

Of course their is a lot of buzz behind Avey Tares solo release "Down There" being a member of that one band called Animal Collective who had a shoein slot for every indie bloggers top albums of 2009 with the vibrant technicolor sounds of their Merriweather Post Pavillion. This video (much like the MJs video I posted below) features strange stopmotion- esque choppiness and random triangles...a video perfect for zoning out stoned too.. aside from the hype the album is pretty cool with some interesting sounds I recommend the song "Oliver Twist"

Midnight Juggernauts Lara vs. the savage pack

MJ's came this monday to SF... another good show missed... oh well maybe on their third album/world tour I'll catch them..  This song is one of my favorites off their sophomore release along with the songs "Lifeblood flow","Winds of Fortune",and "Fade to Red"  actually the whole album "the crystal axis" is pretty epic, they did a good job creating a whole new feeling yet still keeping their signature sci-fi fantasy spacey sound.

Montauk :: Holiday

The intro to this song reminds me of the Spider-Man cartoon from the '90s. Anyway, more Scandanavians are showing up on this blog everyday.

Grimes :: Sagrad

I have listened to this album everday for at least a month. I wake up and turn it on every morning and play while I am going to sleep every night. I think this song is my favorite and it has been stuck in my head literally everyday. Here's a link to download the song or just listen to it. I've had a lot of difficulty finding a youtube video of this or myspace so this was the best I could do. Hope it works, and that you enjoy the song as much as I do. http://www.google.com/search?q=sagrad&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1

Acid House Kings :: Are We Lovers Or Are We Friends

I love the simple melodies in this song as well as the whispering back-up vocals. It has that pop purity that reminds me of the happy and warm days of summer. A welcome feeling as we approach the dark winter. This swedish band has been around since 1991 and just released their 5th album.

A Perfect Circle :: Weak and Powerless

Here's an oldie but a goodie. This one goes back to middle school for me. In fact this album, The Thirteenth Step, helped define that time for me. I was lucky enough to see them live last night and the blew my frickin' mind. It was like a super group of rock, the drummer has played in Nine Inch Nails and has worked with Devo, the guitarists is a former member of Smashing pumpkins and of course Maynard James Keenan, their vocalist, who is also the front man in Tool. Amazing show, I hope you like the track.

Trophy Wife :: Microlite

There has been a pretty sweet acoustic cover of this song circulating around the blogosphere. I personally love it, it reminds me of some Royksopp, or maybe it's Erlend Oye's other project Kings of Convenience that it reminds me of. Either way, I really like it, maybe you will too.

Postponed Script: Sorry about the huge video window. I don't know how to fix it.

Dr. Dre ft Snoop Dogg and Akon

Here's a pretty phat track that was leaked from Dre's new album Detox. It's pretty sick so give it a listen.

Bodies of Water :: Rise Up, Careful

I couldn't find much on this LA based band, but I sure like this track off their up and coming sophmore album.

David Guetta ft Kid Cudi :: Memories

I know this doesn't go along with the typical music on this blog but I have really been liking the stuff David Guetta is pumping out. This song tops the rest though, for me at least. The chorus is how I feel every weekend, just let it all go, that's the best therapy. I can't get this song outta my head and when it comes on, I go off! This friday as you get ready to go out, crank this shit up and you'll be ready to party all night. "It's gettin' late/ but I don't mind" Check out the official video here.

Warpaint :: Bees

Yourstru.ly Presents: Warpaint "Bees" from Yours Truly on Vimeo.

The Morning Benders :: Dreams

I saw the Morning Benders for the second time a few weeks ago and they closed out with this cover of Fleetwood Mac. It's been stuck in my head ever since. Stevie Nicks does a great job, but there's something about his voice that sounds so sweet. Check it out.

Crystal Casltes ft Robert Smith :: Not In Love

Here's a new track from the ever popular Crystal Castles. This track features The Cure front man Robert Smith. I'm a big fan of The Cure so it's obvious that I would like this song. With a relentless beat, shimmering synths and Smith's crooning, this song has earned it's spot in my heavy rotation.

Shy Child

This song is pretty sweet and is almost as good as their song 'Dark Destiny'

Guidance Counselor

I've been into Guidance Counselor for a while now they're from Oregon and I think they consist of members from Starfucker and Fake Drugs or they're all friends or something. All bands are great and very creative. I'd recommend Guidance counselor to fans of good Modest mouse, Wolf Parade, and Handsome Furs type vibes. Buy their full album on itunes!

Brian Eno :: 2 Forms of Anger

Brian Eno - 2 Forms Of Anger (taken from Small Craft On A Milk Sea) by Warp Records

I love Brian Eno and his fabulous mind and ear for how sounds should work together. This is kinda random, but this song completely captures how I feel right now about the Giants in the Playoffs. That slow building tension, with glimmers of guitars cutting through, or is that glimmers of hope. And then it just explodes into a fury water cannons go off and Posey runs the bases. Too much...

The Morning Benders :: Virgins

Here is a Brand new track from the Morning Benders, who I am excited to say I am seeing next weekend. They did this video for the Paris Based La Blogtheque, who I adore. Lovely song.

Zinja Hlungwani :: N'wagezani My Love

Nightriders are a Boston dance duo that are influenced by Daft Punk, Groove Armada, Royksopp, Air, and Sebastien Tellier to name a few. They make glossy disco music with a nostalgic 80s flair to it. check out their killer remix of Don Diablo's Teen Dream...and this dope 80s vid

Woodland :: Animal (Miike Snow Cover)

I was lucky enough to catch Miike Snow at Coachella this year, I love their songs but this cover, which has recently gotten a new video, I prefer. Their accapella like approach and their pretty voices add a new dimension.

Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse ft Julian Casablancas :: Little Girl

Not the best video, but this song is amazing. Danger mouse, Sparklehorse and Julian Casablancas kill it. Julian really lays it down and makes this track, which is one of the more upbeat on the album.

Daft Punk Tron Legacy rip offs and remixes

So this guy who calls himself hair kid recently remixed a track from the Daft Punk composed soundtrack to Tron Legacy. Its pretty cool and the lyrics are actually about Daft Punk.. reminds me of Tiga's Louder than a bomb with the fast paced talking. pretty cool.

Retro/Grade a duo from London who will be coming out with a full length album in 2011 had this track Zoid floating around the blogosphere with claims that it was going to appear in Tron legacy. The rumors are false but the track is sweet!

Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse :: Everytime I'm With You

This haunting track, along with others, have been floating around the web for awhile now, but were just recently put out on CD. The album is titled Dark Night of the Soul and is the collaborative work of Danger Mouse and the late Mark Linkous aka Sparklehorse, with many cameos. Apparently, Linkous had written a number of songs he wasn't comfortable singing, so Danger Mouse suggested getting others to do the vocals instead. Other featured artists include: James Mercer of the the Shins, Julian Casablancas of the Strokes, the Flaming Lips and Iggy Pop. It's a great album and should be checked out by all.

MF Doom :: Eucalyptus

Metal Face Doom, or MF DOOM, is a well known producer/ MC that I love. Maybe you've heard his work with Danger Mouse under the name Dangerdoom. He also goes by Madvillian when he teams up with Madlib, another great project. Here's a track without him rapping, it's off of his Special Herb box set.

Miami Horror-Illumination

Miami Horror are another contributor to the Australian dance scene along with good mates Cut Copy, Midnight Juggernauts, Bag Raiders, and well just look at some of their top myspace friends.. http://www.myspace.com/miamihorror  They released their first full length album "Illumination" recently in Australia (August 20th) still not sure what the U.S. release date is. All the singles off the album so far have been dancefloor gems such as "Moon Theory" and "Sometimes"  Heres the video for the newest single "I look to you" The bass synth has a real nice groove goin on in this song..

Siriusmo

  Siriusmo has been praised as an electro genius across the blogosphere and rightfully so. His well honed sound and melodies display his wit and cleverness. I highly recommend his newest EP "Plasterer of Love" if your into weird electro like Mr. Oizo or other Ed Banger artists. His newest EP has this track on it (He's german so the confusing song titles are in german)  I think this song title translates into "shout once a week or yell out loud once a week..or something.. This video is a little creepy but has a nice moral to the story that we should all take into account.. be grateful for what you have, or your evil twin will screw you over..

Bag Raiders- Way Back

    Bag Raiders are sweet. They're an Australian duo who originally gained popularity with their awesome  Fun Punch EP (which has an awesome power rangers themed video for the title track.) They are on"Modular" a very popular Australian label that have signed The Presets, Cut Copy, and Van She. This new song "Way Back Home" can be heard on their new album which will be released sometime soon (you never know what a release date in the Australia means for the U.S. release)  This song kind of sounds like Cut Copy but its still sweet in its own regard..

Awesome track from the UK Buillon.

very cool fan made video for the song "Cybernetic" by Grum. Images taken from some old german cartoon.
"Summer" is another great song for its namesake season, this one is from Magic Kids. A slow laid back song perfect for a day of cold beers in the park. The song has a Brian Wilson quality to it that I love.
Another great track from the blissed-out, no fi artist Washed Out. A great chill out track. You can catch them with other indie favs such as Best Coast, Panda Bear, Wavves, and more at the FYF Fest in LA on September 4th. Check it out and the full line-up here.

Teams vs. Star Slinger :: Say Please

I love this song because I feel like I'm being blanketed by a rainbow. A great summer song that mixes a little old school with the today's hip synth sounds. I especially like the title, it's a good reminder of the manners that we should all have. You can listen to this song on GvB, here's the link
