Coachella Day 47 & 46

Sorry about the delay Noisepop and work took more of my energy than I expected and haven't been up on everything. Anyways, here are the bands for those days.

I've mostly been posting smaller opening acts so far, so here's one of the headliners, The Chemical Borther's video for Do It Again. Unfortunately, the video has been banned from sharing so you'll have to use that link and sit through a commercial, but the song and video are well worth the wait.

Noisepop: Kid Koala

Tonight at Mighty Kid Koala will be performing. Check out this video, he's pretty amazing. He also has a show on Sunday where he will be performing a 4 hour set titled music to draw too. Tonight's show should be more upbeat, but if you are in the mood for artisst and crafts, and milk and cookies, stop by Public Works.

Coachella 49 Days Gogol Bordello :: Wanderlust King

Dubbing themselves as Gypsy Rock, Gogol Bordello can always be counted on for an amazing show.

Noisepop Film School and Melted Toys

San Francisco's very own Melted Toys will be playing at Cafe Du Nord tonight. I'm very excited and hope they kill.

Noisepop Butterfly Bones and Geographer

Butterfly Bones :: Heart

I saw Geographer and Butterfly Bones again yesterday. Like always they played great sets. Not to get too off topic, but I ran into hella people at the concert. It's so crazy what a small city San Francisco is. But it is this great city that produces bands like this.

Coachella [Day 50] Shpongle :: Divine Moments of Truth (DMT)

Since I skipped yesterday, here's another band. I first got into these guys during my stay in Amsterdam and have been grooving to them ever since. Shpongle is known for their use of both electronica as well as traditional instruments. Very heady music, designed for an electric shaman or something. And as you can see by their performance and the title of this track, they are huge supporters of mind expanding psychoactive drugs. Hope you enjoy.

Coachella [Day 50] Swell Season :: When Your Mind's Made Up

This track is from the movie Once. Set an Ireland, the musical film stars Glen Hansard (of the Frames) and MarkƩta IrglovƔ. The score is beautiful and the duo went on to win an Oscar for one of the songs from the movie. Later, they formed a real band and named themselves The Swell Season. Hope you enjoy.

Noisepop

The 19th annual Noisepop Independent Culture Festival sets off tonight. Dan Deacon is playing at the Independent in the City and Yo La Tengo will be playing in Oakland at Fox theatre. Since I'll be over in the Da Town for a Boston Celtics at GS Warriors game, I'm hoping to catch the end Yo La Tengo show afterwards and see Deacon on Wednesday as he'll be be playing again closer to my work. Here's a random track from Yo La Tengo, I don't really know or like them that well.

Coachella [52 Days] !!! :: Must Be The Moon

So Coachella is coming up. 52 days infact, I just happen to have about 54 acts that I want to see at Coachella, so kinda like an advent calender, I plan to post a song a day from an artists that I am looking forward to seeing at Coachella. Today's? The band known as !!! (pronounced chk chk chk) with their single "Must be the Moon".

Concert Updates Galore

So I stumbled across this pretty cool website called songkick. It'll track artists that you like, and let you know when they come to town for concerts. They have a very wide range of artists and they even allow you to sync your facebook, last.fm and pandora and will automatically add artists from those site that you like to their tracker. Pretty sweet way to keep track without having to check all the venues in your area. Anyways, here's a link, hope it's helpful.

Tyler, the Creator :: Yonkers

Fuck, I can't get off this Odd Future shit. This is the first official video from Tyler, as he just signed a one-album deal with XL Records, an exciting prospect. The album has already been titled "Goblin" and is set to release in April. For two years, Tyler has been releasing albums with OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All) for free on their Tumblr (whatever that is). You can download those albums on their website.
The song has the trademark violence that Tyler is known for, and the video matches him with its demented depictions of cockroach eating, vomitting, nose bleeds and suicide. Recently, Tyler has been drawing a lot of comparisons to Eminem and his sophmore album "Marshall Mather LP", which is an understandable conclusion given the two artists proclivity towards violence, misogyny and their lyrical gifts. Hope you enjoy the video, I'm already counting the days until Goblin's release.

The Tree Ring :: Wore It Deep

Wore It Deep (The Tree Ring) from Destin Daniel Cretton on Vimeo.

Pretty sweet video. The band held a private house concert in an attic with a cover charge of one household lamp and filmed this video there. Pretty cool idea.

some more in memory of the whites stripes

here are a few other songs that demonstrate the pure rawness that white stripes captured in their music.

The Fader: Polock :: Fireworks (Eim Ick Remix)

Check out this track on the fader website. They say the song "builds like a sunrise", but I prefer sunset being on the Left Coast and all, but i like the imagery nonetheless. Shimmery and bright, I think this a great song.

The End of The White Stripes

It is officially over for the White Stripes, one of my favorite bands. Meg and Jack White have called it quits and are not going to be making anymore albums or performing ever again. The duo had made 6 studio albums together and always donned their iconic red, white and black. You can read their letter to the fans here and Enjoy some of their songs below. I'm posting some of my favorite songs and videos, most of which are off of White Blood Cells. If you're a fan of Jack White's other projects, The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs, don't worry. He will still be working with them.

"Seven Nation Army" Elephant

"Fell In Love With A Girl" White Blood Cells

"Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground" White Blood Cells

"Hardest Button to Button" Elephant

"We're Going To Be Friends" White Blood Cells

"Conquest" Icky Thump

"In The Cold, Cold Night (Live)" Elephant

"Jolene (Live)" A Dolly Parton cover
