EarlWolf :: Orange Juice

Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler, the Creator team up to make EarlWolf and grab the music from Gucci Mane's Lemonade. There's no question whose is better. "Watch him count the bodies like bitches be counting calories" I love it. These guys have been called horror core and with all the cussing and talk about killing and rape, it's easy to imagine how they got that reputation. However, I think these guys are better than a first glance may let on. They have an excellent sense of flow, timing and space. And Tyler creates 90% of the duo's beats, which he has a great ear for. The hooks are catchy and the beats heavy. For all the violence in their lyrics, veiled underneath is an equally impressive amount of skill.

Earl Sweatshirt :: Luper

OFWGKTA craziness.

Earl Sweatshirt :: Drop

16 year old Earl Sweatshirt borrows the beat off of A Milli on this track. I think he does a pretty good job with it.

Tyler, the Creator :: Inglorious

Fleet Foxes :: Helplessness Blues

Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues by subpop

Been a long time coming, but Seattle based Fleet Foxes are finally releasing there sophmore album. They first mention working on it back in 2009 (interview)The album is set to come out on May 3rd and this will be the title track. Hope you enjoy it.

Dirty Beaches :: Sweet 17

Zoo Kid :: Out Gettting Ribs

Zoo Kid - Out Getting Ribs from House Anxiety on Vimeo.

This is from 16 year old London bloke aka Archy Marshall. He reminds me of Joe Strummer or The Libertines, but with a La Roux haircut. I just love the song.

Clive Tanaka & Su Orquesta :: Neu Chicago

Creep :: Days

Here's a cool track from brooklyn-based Creep. The appropriately named duo reached out to Romy Madley-Croft of the XX to lay down some vocals. A pretty sweet addition. Like their music, the video is a little goth-y but adds cool flashy light boards and other glimmering effects to pair with the bands elctro roots. Also noteworthy, the video is produced and directed by Fisherspooner's Warren Fischer. Oh, and the band's myspace is one of the creepiest I've visted.

Peter, Bjorn, & John :: Second Chance

"Second Chance" comes off their sixth album, Gimme Some. To be released on March 29th via StarTime International, this album sets out to trade out the keyboards and sample pads of 2009's Living Thing for guitars and more traditional pop instruments. I hope you enjoy the track, I know I'll be at Amoeba on the 29/3 to pick this up.

Lone-Emerald Fantasy EP

I was pretty much blown away by Lone's Cluster Dreams EP which dropped in 2009... which I highly recommend.  Emerald Fantasy is his newest and is pretty fresh sounding, check it out.

New Hercules and Love Affair Album

Hercules & Love Affair - Blue Songs by moshi moshi music
(Via the Guardian)

Ho Man, this is wanna of my favorite bands and they are coming out with another album. The bands sophomore effort has been titled Blue Songs and I'm anxious to see how it holds up to the bands previous album.

Sleigh Bells :: Tell ’Em (Diplo Remix)

Holy Shit. This tracked took me by surprise and straight melted my face. Reminds me of Amsterdam. You gotta be in the mood to move, but this song will rip. Hope y'all dig it.
Grab it here from Fader: Sleigh Bells, “Tell ’Em (Diplo Remix)” MP3

Tame Impala :: Why Won't You Make Up Your Mind (Erol Alkan Rework)

Tame Impala - Why Won't You Make Up Your Mind (Erol Alkan Rework) Radio Edit by Erol Alkan

Original track:

Chris Brown ft Lil Wayne and Twista :: Look At Me (Remix)

Diplo and Afrojack produced this remix and replaced Busta Rhymes with Twista. Twista's speed and delivery are insane and I love the hook, it sounds other-worldly. Say what you will about Chris Brown, he's clearly the weakest link on this track, but from beats to flow, this track goes.

Zeitgeist 2010

With every New Year comes new music. However, what excites me most about the New Year is the look back on the past year's best music. I always check out a few lists, including magazines like Spin, Rolling Stone, Paste and XLR8R and a few other. I also check some blogs like GorillavsBear, Stereogum, and Pitchfork, but my favorite is always the list compiled by Hype Machine. Each Year Hypem.com releases a list of music bloggers top 50 artists, songs, and albums. The albums section is what makes this list stand out because you can stream each album and determine whether or not you like it. So here it is, grab the link here. A few albums that I've enjoyed off the list so far are Two Door Cinema Club (kinda like a Foals meets Tokyo Police Club sound, very dance-y pop) and Gorillaz's Plastic Beach, Radio Dept, and Janelle Monae. Check it out, and see what you like.

Two Door Cinema Club :: Undercover Martyn

Janelle Monae ft Big Boi :: Tight Rope

Gorillaz ft Kano, Bashy & The Lebanese National Orchestra :: White Flag

She and Him & Smokey Robinson and the Miracles :: You Really Got A Hold Of Me

Ignore the video, it's weak. The song however, is beautiful. Covered here by Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, otherwise known as She and Him, You Really Got A Hold On Me is originally a Smokey Robinson song. You can listen to both and see which one you like better. I can't make up my mind. This track is off She and Him's Debut album "Vol. 1". If you like the track you can check out more from them here, at their Myspace.

James Blake :: The Wilhelm Scream

Pretty sick track. The song starts out with soulful and longing vocals set to a pretty minimal beat and guitar accompaniment. But then you watch as he layers, warps and twists the song into a reverb heavy creation. I think its pretty sick, dig it? Live at Maida Vale.

Adele :: Rolling in the Deep + the Jamie XX remix

The soundcloud link to this song has been taken down, but good ole youtube can't be stopped. Here's the track again and the original if you're curious. I like both, and the video's pretty sweet. Seeing her emote as she sings and the dude twirling are sick. I'm also a fan of the visual of the bass on the glasses of water. Dig.

Lil Wayne ft Cory Gunz :: Six Foot Seven Foot

Check out a new this new Lil Wayne track here. Set to be on Tha Carter IV, the track is produced by bangladesh, the producer who lil wayne chose not to credit with his work on "A Milli". Fucking Sick.

Arcade Fire :: Suburbs

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs from Merge Records on Vimeo.

I really love this song and the video is pretty real, though I don't quite understand it. The video, directed by Spike Jonze, takes scenes from a short film titled "Scenes From The Suburbs". Also noteworth, at 2:36 Win and Regine Butler (the two lead vocalists) make a cameo as cops, pretty cool. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
